The Democratic Nursing Organization of South Africa (DENOSA) in Gauteng has noted with concerns the allegations made by pastor Mboro over the death of a child who he attended in his church.
The allegations that the mother and the child were turned away from Daveyton main clinic until they opted to go to the pastor and regrettably ended up passing on have been noted with concern by Denosa in Gauteng.
We have embarked on a fact-finding mission of our own immediately after the allegations surfaced and we wish to publicly rebuke these allegations as false and urge Pastor Mboro to refrain from misleading the public. We want to encourage the Gauteng department of health to conduct its own investigation and attend to this matter urgently.
Over the last couple of months we have witnessed increasing attacks on health professionals. It is disappointing that this time it was done by a church leader who ought to know better and do better. We want call on all churches not to interfere on health issues and should encourage people to get medical help immediately to avoid complications. We say this mindful of the important role played by churches in the spiritual upliftment of patients, but it must not interfere with a patient's treatment.
Denosa Gauteng wishes to send its sincere condolences to the family.
