Leaders of organised labour unions organising in the Health in Gauteng, namely DENOSA, NEHAWU, PSA, HOSPESA and NUPSAW, held a sit-in at MEC's office (MEC's Boardroom) in downtown JHB last night, over 2016/17 performance bonuses which have not been paid up to date. They are still at the offices needing an audience with MEC asap.
By 21h00 last night, the Head of Department left the meeting at the MEC’s boardroom to sleep as he said he was preparing for an early meeting today, which seemed more important to him.
They are at the Bank of Lisborn Building in Sauer Street, next to Luthuli House. At the bargaining chamber they have been sent from pillar to post as a delaying tactic. They will be there until the MEC comes to address them.
All public servants near JHB are cordially invited to join the sit-in to show the employer that delaying tactics are no longer accepted by hungry workers. Because they are few, they are being threatened with eviction by security.
The unions have called for the intervention of the Premier, and the Minister of Health before the situation reaches crisis point.
