Day Three has kicked off at the 13th COSATU National Congress in Midrand, with DENOSA tabling a special resolution for formal and constitutional recognition of Young Workers and for Young Workers Forums to be launched by affiliates as a means to grow, develop and give special attention to the needs of young workers within the trade union movement in the working environment that is becoming youth-dominated and making use of technology...
This special resolution has received warm attention and welcome from affiliates at the congress.
The special resolution in great part is aimed at making trade unions in the 21st Century more accommodative of young workers and their new ways of doing things in the workplace, with technology at the apex of this development.
Organising and mandate-seeking processes have been made easy with the advent of technology, where things can just be done at the click of the button. This is to make use of technology to the great advantage of trade unions.
Furthermore, DENOSA believes strongly that this approach will prepare workers of all sectors for the 4th Industrial Revolution, and the need to skill workers towards this direction will only improve trade unionism.
