DENOSA Free State Student Movement holds Provincial Congress in Ventersburg

DENOSA Free State recently held its Student Movement Provincial Congress at the Aldam Resort in Ventersburg. The two day event took place from the 8th to the 9th of February 2020. During the event, DENOSA Free State Student Movement Secretary, Thabile Wandisa Mapaila, delivered the oragnisational report which was discussed by the delegates. 

Issues that featured prominently at the congress include the poor state of accommodation for student nurses at institutions of higher learning; the hardships brought by the introduction of a bursary system to students; and the state of student representation at the institution of learning.   

DENOSA National Student Movement 2nd Deputy Chairperson, Markos Khensani Ndlovu, outlined the nomination process for the nomination of Provincial Office Bearers in the Free State and the results were announced on the last day of the congress. 

Provincial Office Bearers for DENOSA Free State who were nominated to serve for the 2-year term were: Chairperson: Mlungisi Adoonis;  

Deputy Chairperson: Tshediso Williams; 

Secretary: Xoliswa Mtiyedwa;  

Deputy Secretary: N. Tlatsa; and 

Organiser: Nomvula Mathibe. 

Among those who attended the event was DENOSA Acting General Secretary, Cassim Lekgoathi; DENOSA Deputy General Secretary, Dimakatso Sebopa; former DENOSA Free State Provincial Secretary, Gift Sello Mnyamane; and COSATU Free State Provincial Secretary, Monyatso Mahlatsi to name a few. 

Declaration of the DENOSA Free State Student Movement Congress was read by Xoliswa Mtiyedwa and Mlungisi Adoons delivered the closing remarks at the congress.
